If you're shopping for an inositol powder in Canada, you've probably come across Organika Marine Collagen PCOS Relief. It's Canadian-made, sold at Costco and on Amazon.ca, and combines 40:1 inositol with marine collagen. So how does it compare with Primal Root?
We put the two side by side using each brand's published label. Full transparency: we make Primal Root. That's why we've kept this to facts, including where Organika comes out ahead.
The quick answer
- Choose Organika PCOS Relief if you want a higher daily dose of inositol (4g of myo-inositol a day) and you'd like marine collagen in the same scoop.
- Choose Primal Root if you want a vegan, flavoured, pre-measured sachet taken once a day, with active folate, magnesium and botanicals instead of collagen.

What these two inositol powders have in common
Both use the 40:1 ratio of myo-inositol to d-chiro-inositol. That's the ratio normally found in the blood, and it performed best among the ratios compared in a 2019 trial (Nordio et al., 2019). Both also include folate, which is often paired with inositol in PCOS research.
Where the two inositol powders differ
1. Daily inositol dose
Organika gives you almost four times more myo-inositol per day: 4,000mg vs 1,100mg. If a higher dose of inositol is your top priority, that's a real advantage for Organika.
Primal Root's lower dose is deliberate. Some 40:1 studies used 550mg myo + 13.8mg d-chiro twice a day, the same daily totals as one Primal Root sachet (in those studies it was given as a soft-gel capsule). A 2024 review for the international PCOS guideline didn't find a clear winner between dosing regimens (Fitz et al., JCEM 2024). We explain this more in our inositol powder comparison.
2. Collagen vs botanicals
This is the biggest difference in philosophy. Organika pairs inositol with marine collagen, which makes up more than half of each scoop (2,600mg of the 4.71g). Primal Root pairs inositol with magnesium glycinate, ashwagandha, chaste berry, maca and B6, chosen for the stress, sleep and PMS side of PCOS. We explain why in why we add botanicals to inositol powder.
Collagen is a protein that many people take for skin, hair and joints. If that's something you already take or want, getting it in the same scoop is convenient. If you're vegan, vegetarian or allergic to fish, it rules Organika out.
3. Folic acid vs L-methylfolate
Organika uses folic acid, the most widely studied form of folate. Primal Root uses L-methylfolate, an active form your body can use without converting it first. Both are legitimate choices. Methylfolate is often preferred by people who know they convert folic acid less efficiently.
4. Taste and how you take it
Organika is unflavoured and meant to be mixed into half a cup of cold water, juice or another cold drink, twice a day. Primal Root is flavoured blackberry lemon, and you can take it straight from the sachet, in water or in a smoothie, once a day.
What reviewers say
Organika PCOS Relief has a 4.3-star average from more than 160 ratings on Amazon.ca (at the time of writing), so most buyers are happy with it. Among the lower-rated reviews, the most common themes are the taste and smell (which some attribute to the marine collagen), powder that doesn't fully dissolve, the size of the scoop, and, for a few people, digestive discomfort. Individual reviews aren't clinical evidence and everyone reacts differently, but these are worth knowing about if taste is a dealbreaker for you.
Which inositol powder should you choose?
- You want the highest inositol dose and also want collagen: Organika PCOS Relief.
- You're vegan or avoid fish: Primal Root.
- Stress, sleep and PMS are a big part of your picture: Primal Root, with magnesium and botanicals included.
- You struggle with the taste of unflavoured powders or forget the second scoop: Primal Root's once-a-day flavoured sachet.
Whichever you choose, talk to your healthcare professional first if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive or taking medication. Primal Root contains ashwagandha and chaste berry, which aren't recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
